CareerAgent is committed to protecting your privacy and ensuring compliance with the Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA) of South Africa. This Privacy Policy outlines how we handle personal information collected through the CareerAgent web app, specifically intended for Grade 9 students.

Information We Collect

Directly Provided by the User (Session-Based Only):

• A name or nickname for session personalization. Not stored after the session.
• Responses to the 33-question AI assessment.
• Last report card marks (entered by the student), used in real-time only.

No user accounts are created. No personal information is stored after the session ends.

Automatically Collected:

• Website usage data (IP address, browser type, time spent, etc.).
• Cookies and analytics for functional and session purposes.

Payment Information

Payments are processed by PayStack. CareerAgent does not store or process any credit card information directly.

Use of Information

• To deliver personalized AI-powered assessments for Grade 9 students.
• To personalize the session using the name/nickname.
• To process report card marks during the session for personalized output.
• To improve the platform through anonymous, aggregated data analysis.

Information Sharing

We do not share any session-based personal information with third parties.

Essential service providers (e.g., hosting, PayStack) only access data as necessary to provide their services.

Data Security

We use secure hosting environments, encrypted connections (HTTPS), and role-based access controls. Session-based data is only processed in-memory and not retained post-session. Despite best efforts, no online system can be guaranteed 100% secure.

Your Rights (POPIA)

Under POPIA, you have the right to:

• Access your personal information.
• Request correction or deletion of your data.
• Object to processing (though session data is not retained).

Given that we do not retain session-based personal information, requests under these rights may not be applicable post-session.

Data Retention

Session-based personal information is not stored. Anonymous usage data may be retained for analytics and platform optimization purposes.

Children’s Privacy

The CareerAgent web app is intended only for Grade 9 students. Verifiable parental or guardian consent is required before collecting and processing a minor’s session-based name/nickname, report card marks, and assessment responses. This consent must be provided by a competent person before the assessment begins.

CareerAgent reserves the right to update this Privacy Policy. Changes will be posted on our website with the updated effective date. Continued use of the platform constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
